German Public Broadcaster ZDF Obtains High Ratings With Biathlon Broadcast

German public broadcaster ZDF "received high ratings for its winter sports broadcast on Thursday," according to Sidney Schering of QUOTENMETER. A total of 1.66 million viewers tuned in to watch the women's 15km biathlon race, which started at 1:15pm German time. The number translated into a market share of 16.8%. In the the target demographic 14-49, the race from Östersund, Sweden attracted 300,000 viewers and had a 8.7% market share. Following the women's race, ZDF aired the men's 20km race. The men's event, which started at 5:15pm, was watched by 2.98 million viewers and obtained a 16.3% share. In the target demographic, the biathlon race attracted 440,000 viewers and had a 7.6% share (QUOTENMETER, 11/29).

EUROPA LEAGUE: QUOTENMETER's Manuel Weis reported German free-to-air TV channel kabel eins "recorded top ratings for the second half of its Europa League broadcast on Thursday." The game between Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt and Ligue 1 side Girondins de Bordeaux attracted 2.16 million viewers during the second half, which started at 10:05pm German time. The number translated into a market share of 8.5%. The first half of the game, which started at 9:05pm, was watched by 1.7 million viewers and obtained a 5.6% market share in the target demographic (QUOTENMETER, 11/29).
