Singapore's first batch of national athletes to be awarded the Sports Excellence scholarship were welcomed formally into the program on Wednesday afternoon, "receiving certificates from Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong at the Singapore Indoor Stadium" (STRAITS TIMES, 11/20). ... Hong Kong Cricket Association Chair Mike Walsh has attacked the Int'l Cricket Council's decision to restrict the number of associate members at next year's Twenty20 World Cup in Bangladesh, saying that it is "sad that the six best teams from the current qualifying tournament in the United Arab Emirates are not assured of a place in the main event."
