Olympic Notes: IOC President Thomas Bach 'Not Upset' By Votes Against Munich 2022 Bid

IOC President Thomas Bach said that he was "not upset with a vote by residents against Munich's bid to host the 2022 Winter Games." All four districts in a "potential Munich bid returned 'no' vote in a referendum" held on Nov. 10. Opponents "were concerned about environmental issues and high costs." When asked if he felt upset, Bach said, "Not upset. This is what can happen in Germany" (XINHUA, 11/18). ... Malawi mobile phone service provider TNM on Friday donated a K7M ($20,000) check to the Malawi Olympics Committee. The money is "supposed to assist in the running of the mini Olympics tournament slated for November" in "preparation for the commonwealth games" (ALL AFRICA, 11/16).
