German Hockey League (DEL) club Hamburg Freezers "has extended its contract" with Sport Dir STEPHANE RICHER until '16. The 47-year-old Canadian, whose contract "was set to expire at the end of the season, has been with Freezers since April '10" (SID, 11/11). ... Spanish cyclist ALBERTO CONTADOR of Saxo-Tinkoff on Wednesday tweeted that he traveled to Brazil to "work on the wind tunnel to improve his performance in time trials." Contador began his "preseason training last week in Switzerland and now heads to the Americas, where he will also visit California" (EFE, 11/11). ... SINISA MIHAJLOVIC "will be installed as the new Sampdoria boss" once DELIO ROSSI is axed (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 11/11). ... Former India cricket captain RAHUL DRAVID was "the star attraction at CBI's international conference on corruption" which was inaugurated by PM MANMOHAN SINGH on Monday. Law minister KAPIL SIBAL and Finance Minister P. CHIDAMBARAM were also in attendance (TNN, 11/11). ... Former NBA player SHAQUILLE O'NEAL "will participate in the fourth edition of the Aspire4Sport conference," which begins at the Aspire Dome in Doha, Qatar on Saturday (GULF TIMES, 11/11). ... The Williams F1 team named FELIPE MASSA as the team's newest driver for the 2014 World Championship season. Felipe has 11 race wins and 36 podiums to his credit during his career (Williams F1).
