ZDF Sets New Season Ratings Record With Champions League Broadcast

German public broadcaster ZDF "has set a new season ratings record for its broadcast of the Champions League game between Dortmund and Arsenal," according to Manuel Weis of QUOTENMETER. An average of 9.02 million tuned in to watch the game on Wednesday evening. The number translated into a market share of 30.2%. In the target demographic 14-49, Arsenal's 1-0 win attracted 2.91 million and had a 24.7% share. The numbers were better than for ZDF's broadcasts of Bayern Munich's Champions League games in Weeks 2 and 3. Those games attracted around 7.8 million and 8.6 million viewers, respectively.

PAY TV:
German pay-TV operator Sky "showed, in addition to the Dortmund-Arsenal game, the matchup between Schalke and Chelsea." Chelsea's 3-0 victory was watched by 960,000 viewers on Sky. The number translated into a market share of 3.2%. In the target demographic, the game obtained a 4.4% share (QUOTENMETER, 11/7).
