Carmaker Caterham Group has appointed GRAHAM MACDONALD as its CEO "as part of a move to become a global car business." The carmaker has "created the role for Macdonald, who will still maintain his previous role as CEO of the Caterham Cars division, as it expands into different sectors" (London TELEGRAPH, 11/1). ... The Commonwealth Games Federation has appointed Australian MATTHEW CURTAIN as its first director of sport. Curtain, 39, was the weightlifting competition manager at the 2012 Olympics and is in the same role "at Glasgow 2014 and has has been involved in a number of multi-sport events" (INSIDE THE GAMES, 10/31). ... FABRIZIO RAVANELLI's first taste of management "ended on Saturday when Ligue 1 strugglers Ajaccio fired the Italian after a 3-1 home defeat by Valenciennes." Ravanelli: "That's football. I've worked, I've done everything I could to make it work. It did not. I'm not angry. We had a lot of problems, I never had the whole squad available" (REUTERS, 11/2). ... J.League first-division side FC Tokyo has hired Italian MASSIMO FICCADENTI "to coach the club for next season." The 45-year-old former Cesena coach managed former Tokyo defender YUTO NAGATOMO in Serie A a couple of years ago. Tokyo earlier announced that current Manager RANKO POPOVIC "will not be extended" for '14 (KYODO, 11/1).
