Volleyball Bundesliga Club Unterhaching Has Six Weeks To Find New Main Sponsor

German Volleyball Bundesliga club Unterhaching "has only six weeks to find a new main sponsor or it has to withdraw from the league," according to the FRANKFURTER ALLGEMEINE ZEITUNG. The future of the club "is completely up in the air after its main sponsor, insurance company Generali, announced that it will not extend its deal with the team." Club Managing Dir & coach Mihai Paduretu said, "The days are numbered, that's the reality." Without the sponsorship money from Generali, the club will face a budget gap of around €1M ($1.35M). Paduretu: "There are certain deadlines that we have to comply with in order to keep the club out of financial troubles. We won't run up a single cent of debt." The 46-year-old said that "he thinks the probability of finding new partners is very slim." In addition to the city's two pro football clubs, Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) club Bayern Munich and German Hockey League (DEL) club EHC Red Bull Munich "have established themselves in the Munich sports landscape." Paduretu said, "We are looking ahead, should anything come up then it would be beautiful" (FAZ, 11/3).
