Executive Transactions

Businessman STUART HEAL "has been confirmed chairman" of the revamped New Zealand Cricket board. Heal was "unanimously voted in by the board at its first meeting in Auckland" on Wednesday. He was one of three members of the former board to seek re-election. Heal has been a NZC board member since '08 and is the former CEO of Combined Rural Traders, a role he "held for nearly 20 years." His other governance roles include being "chair of Pioneer Generation, Southern Primary Health Organisation and the University Bookshop, and a director of the Southern Rural Fire Association" (FAIRFAX NZ NEWS, 10/23).

COACHES: EPL Crystal Palace Manager IAN HOLLOWAY has left the team "by mutual consent" after deciding that he had "lost the respect of the squad following a terrible start to the club's return to the Premier League." The writing "appeared to be on the wall after Monday's 4-1 defeat to Fulham" at Selhurst Park. Holloway, along with some of his players, was "barracked by sections of the home support as they departed from the pitch after the defeat, Palace's seventh in eight league games following promotion from the Championship last season," with some chanting "Out, out, out!" in the direction of the manager (London GUARDIAN, 10/23). ... Former England footballer NIGEL CLOUGH has been appointed manager of League One side Sheffield United (REUTERS, 10/23). ... Former League Championship Blackburn Rovers Manager STEVE KEAN "has completed an unlikely deal" to coach Brunei DPMM of Singapore's S.League (REUTERS, 10/22).
