Former ManU Manager ALEX FERGUSON's second autobiography was launched in London on Tuesday ahead of its full release on Thursday -- "and some of his former players will be keeping an ear out for what he has to say," according to the London DAILY RECORD. Ferguson "has put into prose his stories and memories" since the club's '99 Treble-winning season. DAVID BECKHAM, ROY KEANE, RUUD VAN NISTELROOY and JAAP STAM are all set to feature as their ManU careers "ended on clouded terms with the manager" (DAILY RECORD, 10,22). In London, Jeremy Wilson reported Arsenal Manager ARSÈNE WENGER "summed up the mixture of anticipation and trepidation that will be coursing through British football" with the release of Ferguson’s memoirs. Wenger joked “we all fear the worst” (TELEGRAPH, 10/21). BLOOMBERG's Christopher Elser wrote Ferguson said in his autobiography that Beckham failed to become one of the top football players in the world after he left ManU "because he was distracted by his pursuit of fame." Ferguson wrote, "For my money, after the change, he never attained the level where you would say: that is an absolute top player." Ferguson says of Beckham in the 400-page book, "At some point in his life, he may feel the urge to say: I made a mistake" (BLOOMBERG, 10/22).
