Leyton Orient Chair Barry Hearn Prepares To Drag Out Olympic Stadium Battle

League One football club Leyton Orient Chair Barry Hearn "is ready to drag the battle for the Olympic Stadium in to next year," despite deciding not to appeal the decision to deny Leyton Orient a Judicial Review over EPL West Ham’s tenancy, according to Ben Rumsby of the London TELEGRAPH. Hearn "warned he was still considering legal action against the Premier League, as well as taking his case to the European Commission, revealing he would announce his next move after the House of Lords committee investigating the London 2012 legacy reports in November." Hearn: "We’re not walking away because we still feel that we’ve got an unanswerable case." Orient "put legal action against the Premier League on hold pending the club’s Judicial Review application." Hearn claims the league "infringed its own rules" by sanctioning West Ham’s '16 move from Upton Park to Stratford because the switch "would have a detrimental effect on its new neighbour." The Premier League "insists its rules do not require it to veto such moves but merely consider any negative impact in its overall deliberations." Hearn also believes the London Legacy Development Corp.'s decision to hand West Ham tenancy of a £400M ($647M) stadium for just £2M ($3.2M)-a-year rent amounts to illegal state aid (TELEGRAPH, 9/30).
