Wednesday's Champions League Broadcasts Draw High Numbers On ZDF, Sky

German public broadcaster ZDF "recorded strong ratings for its broadcast of Wednesday's Champions League match between Borussia Dortmund and SSC Napoli," according to Manuel Weis of QUOTENMETER. An average of 8.58 million viewers tuned in to watch Napoli's 2-1 victory. The number equaled a market share of 29.4%. In the target demographic 14-49, the broadcast obtained a 22.3% share. In addition, German pay-TV Sky channel attracted 970,000 viewers to its simulcast of all eight Champions League games on Wednesday night. Sky's broadcast obtained a 3.3% market share. In the target demographic, the pay-TV network had a 4.7% share (QUOTENMETER, 9/19).

EUROBASKET: The EP reported nearly 1.5 million viewers tuned into Spanish channel Cuatro for the Spanish basketball team's 90-60 victory against Serbia on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the EuroBasket tournament. The game registered a 14.1% market share (EP, 9/19).

MAYWEATHER-CANELO: Nearly eight out of 10 households in Mexico with a TV tuned into Saturday's Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Saul Álvarez fight on Mexican broadcaster Televisa's Channel 5. The 12-round bout, which Mayweather won, garnered a national rating of 41.1 points, which equates to a 77% share, 22.1 million viewers and 5.9 million TV households, making it the highest-rated boxing program in the history of Mexican TV. The broadcast peaked with a national rating of 42 points (78.4% share, 22.6 million viewers, 6 million TV households). The average during the fight's broadcast from 8pm to 12:30am was 30.1 points, equating to 16.2 million viewers and 4.3 million TV households (Golden Boy).
