Electronic Arts has chosen ANDREW WILSON, who was "the head of its sports unit, responsible for video gaming franchises such as FIFA Soccer and Madden NFL," as its new CEO. The 39-year-old succeeds JOHN RICCITIELLO, "who stood down in March" (FINANCIAL TIMES, 9/17). ... Bundesliga club Hamburg SV has fired head coach THORSTEN FINK "after only five gamedays." The reasons for the decision "were the recent Bundesliga losses and several contoversial short trips to see his family in Munich." The club "is reportedly already in talks with former Hertha and Hoffenheim coach" MARKUS BABBEL. Another candidate is reportedly FRANCO FODA, "who recently lost his coaching job at 2nd Bundesliga side FC Kaiserslautern" (DPA, 9/17). ... Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt's board of directors unanimously decided to extend the contract of Exec Chair HERIBERT BRUCHHAGEN until June 30, 2016 (Eintracht Frankfurt). ... Argentine Olympic Committee President GERARDO WERTHEIN was re-elected, and will keep the position for four more years (OLE, 9/17). ... The Int'l Centre for Sport Security has hired Olympics veteran KAREN WEBB "as its director of comms." Webb joins the ICSS, which is based in Qatar, "having played a key role in attempting to establish the legacy for London 2012." She was exec director for marketing and comms at the Olympic Park Legacy Company for two years "before going on to launch her own consultancy last January." Webb steps in for HEINZ PALME, "who was filling the ICSS position on an interim basis and will now continue his role as ICSS director of business development" (PR WEEK, 9/17). ... Former Hamilton, New Zealand mayor MICHAEL REDMAN "has been appointed to replace" ANDY DALTON as Super Rugby side Blues CEO. The Blues were forced to rethink their CEO position after Australian National Basketball League side Breakers CEO RICHARD CLARKE "knocked back the job to remain with the three-time ANBL champion basketball franchise" (FAIRFAX NEWS, 9/17). ... Premiership rugby side Northampton Saints has made TONY HEWITT its new chairman. Hewitt, who has been involved with Saints for 25 years, "held the role of acting-chairman since June" and the late LEON BARWELL's illness. Hewitt joined the club's board of directors when the game turned professional in '95, "having worked in the commercial property market for 40 years." He became vice-chairman in '11 (BBC, 9/17).
