Handball Bundesliga Clubs Vote Against Introduction Of Playoffs In '14-15

The Handball Bundesliga's (HBL) plans to introduce playoffs with the '14-15 season were shut down by the league's clubs, according to SPORT1. The proposal "received 15 no votes with three abstentions at the league meeting in Dortmund on Thursday." Füchse Berlin Managing Dir Bob Hanning said, "A different decision than a clear no would have been an absolute catastrophe." He called the decision "a verdict for the purpose of the sport." The last time the HBL "used playoffs to decide its championship was during the '91-92 season" (SPORT1, 9/5).
