Event Notes: Swiss Football Federation Selects Basel As Its UEFA Euro 2020 Host City

The Swiss Football Federation (SFV) "has decided on Basel as its host city for UEFA Euro 2020" (NEUE ZÜRCHER ZEITUNG, 9/5). ... The Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) announced it has granted three-year UCI World Tour licenses to three events: the Amstel Gold Race in the Netherlands, the Tour de Flandres in Belgium and the Tour de Romandi in Switzerland (UCI). ... The Chinese FA announced on Thursday that China has withdrawn its bid to host the Asian Cup football tournament in '19. When the bidding started, 11 countries expressed their interest in hosting the event (XINHUA, 9/5). ... Kuwait will host its first World Squash Team Championship after being awarded the rights to hold the men's event in '15 by the World Squash Federation. The event will take place at the Late Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah Int'l Squash Complex from Dec. 12-18, 2015 (IANS, 9/5). ... The DX Max All India Tennis Association tournament is scheduled to begin Monday. The tournament, which carries overall prize money of Rs. 3.5 lakh ($5,300), "is one of the biggest in South India" (DECCAN HERALD, 9/5). ... The Dubai Sports Council will host the Fifth Congress of Int'l Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance for the Middle East from Sept. 20-21 (GULF NEWS, 9/5).
