Swiss Super League club FC Zürich has appointed THOMAS SCHÖNBERGER "as its new CEO." Schönberger, "who is currently the CEO of league rival FC Luzern, will start his new position at the beginning of '14." (NEUE ZÜRCHER ZEITUNG, 8/27). ... Swiss Olympic Chef de Mission GIAN GILLI "will resign from his position after the 2014 Sochi Winter Games." Gilli, who was chef de mission for Switzerland's Olympic delegation during the 2012 London Games and head coach during the 2010 Vancouver Games, "will be replaced by former curler" RALPH STÖCKLI (NEUE ZÜRCHER ZEITUNG, 8/27). ... The Cambodian Table Tennis Federation elected a new exec committee for the next four-year term "with strategies discussed for future activities." CCTF President ROTH SOKHON was re-elected while PIN PAV and JIM KHEAN "gained promotions to the positions of vice-presidents." SUN SOTHEARITH "is to continue as general secretary" and TE SOK HONG was appointed as the chief of the CTTF's financial department (PHNOM PENH POST, 8/27). ... Former Australian Rugby Union skipper PAUL MCLEAN replaced former Wallaby skipper GEORGE GREGAN on the ARU Board on Tuesday. Gregan, the Wallabies most capped player with 139 appearances, has served as a board members since April '12 "but stepped down to focus on his business ventures and other roles in the game." It was only one of three changes announced following Tuesday's board meeting, with fellow board members JOHN MUMM and General PETER COSGROVE "announcing they will retire later this year" (AAP, 8/27). ... Former Nike Senior Exec and leading Brazilian journalist MARIO ANDRADA has taken up the role of Rio 2016 communications director. Andrada replaced CARLOS VILLANOVA, "who has returned to work for the Brazilian Government after more than two years involvement in the Olympics and Paralympics." Andrada "was director of communication and emerging markets for the Americas at Nike" (INSIDE THE GAMES, 8/26).
