Taxpayers Still Foot Bill To Secure, Maintain London's Olympic Stadium

Securing and maintaining London's Olympic Stadium, the venues and the Olympic Park "has cost the taxpayer" nearly £4M ($6.2M) in the last six months, according to SKY SPORTS. The cost of safety and security of the Olympic Park has cost £2.9M ($4.5M) alone in the six months from January to June this year. The safety and security costs of the stadium come in at an extra £422,487 ($655,000). In addition, "the costs of maintenance on the Olympic Stadium" come in at £495,300 ($768,000). The bill to the taxpayer totals £3.9M ($6.2M). These figures "do not include the costs of transforming the Olympic Park which is currently taking place" (SKY SPORTS, 8/14).
