Austrian Swim Association (OSV) President CHRISTIAN MEIDLINGER has resigned from his postion only 11 months after he took over from former President PAUL SCHAUER. In addition, Meidlinger's wife KATRIN "has announced her withdrawal from the board of the ASV Vienna and all other swimming functions." The resignation of Christian Meidlinger and his wife "seems to be the result of the long-term conflict" with Austrian swimmer DINKO JUKIC (Ö24, 8/4). ... JESÚS RAMÍREZ has been hired as the coach of Costa Rica's junior national football teams. In this role, Ramírez will lead Costa Rica's U15, U17 and U20 teams. Ramírez's contract is for two years, "but it can be extended depending on his success" (LA AFICION, 8/3). ... CHO BEOM-HYUN, who guided South Korean baseball club Kia Tigers to a championship in '09, has been named manager of expansion club KT Wiz on Friday. The Wiz, which will join the Korea Baseball Organization in '15, "announced the signing of Cho to a three-year deal worth 1.5B won ($1.3M), a figure that includes a signing bonus" (YONHAP NEWS, 8/2). ... KHUNYING PATAMA LEESWADTRAKUL was on Saturday named Badminton Association of Thailand President, replacing CHAROEN WATTANASIN. As the "only candidate, Patama received unanimous support from all 31 member clubs" (BANGKOK POST, 8/4).
