Marketplace Roundup: Gas Company Total Becomes Title Sponsor Of Copa Sudamericana

French oil and gas company Total has agreed to a two-year deal to become the title sponsor of the Copa Sudamericana, South America's secondary club football competition. Previously "recognized for participation in motor sports, Total is now moving in a different direction in South America." Total Americas VP Pierre-Yves Sachet said, "We want to work closely with CONMEBOL, the teams and fans to promote what Total does in Latin America" (FUTBOL ARGENTINO, 7/29). ... Bundesliga club Hertha BSC Berlin has signed a new three-year sponsorship deal with state lottery Lotto Berlin. The gambling provider will receive ad space in camera view at home games at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. The deal was brokered by sports marketing agency SPORTFIVE (Hertha BSC). … Second Bundesliga club FC Energie Cottbus has extended its sponsorship deal with health insurance company AOK Nordost for two years until ’15. The company will continue to be the club’s exclusive health partner (Energie Cottbus). ... German Volleyball Bundesliga TV Rottenburg is still looking for a shirt sponsor. However, the club has not turned the search around. Potential sponsors are now supposed to bid on the club's shirt sponsorship at www.auktion.volleyball-rottenburg.de. The starting bid is €10,000 ($13,300) (TV Rottenburg). ... Australian Football League side Sydney Swans has extended its partnership with Sydney-based netball club New South Wales Swifts for three more years through '16. The Swans have supported the Swifts as their premier partner since '08 (Sydney Swans). ... UAE football side Al Nasr VP Ahmad Al Khoury said the club will get two "superstar strikers" thanks to a new shirt sponsorship agreement with container port company DP World (GULF NEWS, 7/31). ... Emirates airline announced a partnership with the Guinness Int'l Champions Cup. The inaugural preseason tournament sees eight clubs play across six U.S. cities through Aug. 7 and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports (GULF NEWS, 7/31). ... Online gambling brand Bodog Asia has signed a six-figure sponsorship deal with the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship, which will include perimeter boards and in-stadia LED advertising (Bodog Asia).
