Glasgow 2014 Chair Robert Smith Says Event Will Not Pay Usain Bolt To Participate

Commonwealth Games bosses "won’t pay a penny to get superstar Usain Bolt to run at Glasgow 2014," according to Gary Ralston of the Scotland DAILY RECORD. Bolt has said that "he would love to race here and complete his medal collection." Games execs hope "the fastest man in the world, who hasn’t run at the Commonwealth Games before, will take part for the glory without any cash incentive." Glasgow 2014 Chair Robert Smith said, "We will speak to the Jamaican federation and they will speak to him about coming. But we don’t write checks for these sort of things" (DAILY RECORD, 7/24).
