Australia's Nine Network Will Broadcast Ashes Cricket On Second Channel GEM

TV viewers "will be able to watch Australia's clash with the 'the old enemy' in the forthcoming Ashes series on Nine Network's multi-channel GEM for the first time," according to Darren Davidson of THE AUSTRALIAN. The action, which will be shown on Nine's primary channel in sessions, "but not in full," will be aired on GEM, allowing Nine to minimize disruption to "scheduling on the primary channel and still show 'every ball, every run and every wicket.'" Channel Nine commentator Tim Gilbert will host Nine's broadcast from Sydney, joined by Ashes-winning Australian captains Ian Chappell and Mark Taylor, and former Test players Ian Healy, Michael Slater and Brett Lee. Nine News reporter Roz Kelly "will be on the ground to report on the five Ashes test matches that begin at Nottingham's Trent Bridge on July 10" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 7/2).
