Media Notes: Infront Sports & Media To Distribute Tour De Suisse Int'l Media Rights

Infront Sports & Media will distribute the int'l media rights of the Tour de Suisse beginning in '15 onwards. In '15, the Tour de Suisse wil be held between June 13-21. The ultimate aim of the int'l media rights sales strategy is to open up new markets for the Tour de Suisse as well as increase media coverage in the midterm (Infront). ... A new global report by SNL Kagan said that Comcast Corp. "ranked the No. 1 pay-TV operator in the world" at the end of '12 with nearly 22 million subscribers. Collectively, China, India and the U.S. accounted for 50 or nearly half of the 106 top pay-TV operators, with 27 companies based in China and 12 in India. The U.S. came third with 11 operators, followed by France, Germany, South Korea, Brazil and Mexico, each with five (HOME MEDIA MAGAZINE, 6/3). ... JTBC, the TV network of JoongAng Media Group, "has won the exclusive right to broadcast the East Asian Cup." The four-nation football competition, to be held in Korea next month, is the fifth edition (KOREA JOONGANG DAILY, 6/5). ... Turkey-based media services provider Erstream and cloud-based streaming technology provider Octoshape have been selected by the Turkish Basketball Federation to provide broadband TV video distribution services to fans in Turkey and around the world (TBF).
