Berlin will stage the Champions League final for the first time in '15 and Warsaw will be the venue for the Europa League final, according to the London GUARDIAN. UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino said, "Two beautiful venues for our finals for 2015." The '15 match, at Berlin's Olympic Stadium -- or Olympiastadion -- "will be the first European final in the German capital," which hosted the 1936 Olympic Games and the 2006 World Cup final. Poland, which co-hosted Euro 2012 with Ukraine, "has never staged a major European final, but Warsaw's refurbished National Stadium hosted the opening match of last year's European Championship between Poland and Greece" (GUARDIAN, 5/23).
The Macedonian cup final "was abandoned to stem rising tensions after rival Macedonian and ethnic Albanian fans began exchanging nationalist chants." The match between Teteks and Shkendija "was rescheduled for Sunday and the Macedonian federation said it would be played in an empty stadium to avoid provocation" (EUROSPORT, 5/23). ... The int'l friendly match between Bafana Bafana and Lesotho "has been moved" to June 2. The match will take place at Maseru Stadium (SOWETAN LIVE, 5/23).
