Final Bundesliga Matchday With Top Ratings On ARD, Sky; DTM Qualification Weak On ARD

German public broadcaster ARD "has recorded season-best ratings for its Bundesliga games highlight show 'Sportschau'" on Saturday, according to David Grzeschik of QUOTENMETER. A total of 4.87 million viewers tuned in at 6pm German time to watch the highlights of the last Bundesliga matchday. The show obtained a season-best 28.1% market share. In the target demographic 14-49, the Sportschau had a 23.1% share. In addition, ARD's highlight show of the 3rd League games, which aired at 5:30pm, attracted 1.77 million viewers, which equaled a 14.2% market share (QUOTENMETER, 5/19).

SKY HIGH: QUOTENMETER's Grzeschik reported German pay-TV channel Sky "has also recorded top ratings for its Bundesliga simulcast" on Saturday afternoon. A total of 1.3 million viewers tuned in at 3:30pm to watch Sky's Bundesliga broadcast. The number translated into a 11.1% share. In the target demographic, Sky obtained an "unbelievably high" 16.4% share (QUOTENMETER, 5/19).

DTM: QUOTENMETER's Grzeschik wrote ARD received low ratings for its broadcast of the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) qualifying session on Saturday afternoon. The qualifying session from Brands Hatch, England, which started at 2:30pm, attracted 500,000 viewers and had a 4.8% market share. In the target demographic, the DTM had a 3.5% share (QUOTENMETER, 5/19).
