Olympic Notes: French, Japanese Athletics Federations Team Up

The Japanese and French athletics federations signed a partnership agreement Wednesday to cooperate in boosting their competitive levels as they head toward the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Under the indefinite agreement, the two sides will exchange information on athlete development, organize event-by-event joint training sessions, share training camps and promote exchanges of coaches and junior athletes (JAAF). ... Turkey's sports minister "has accepted the apology from the governor of Tokyo for criticizing Istanbul's bid for the 2020 Olympics." Youth and Sports Minister Suat Kilic said, "We now wish for a friendly competition between the candidate cities abiding by the criteria established by the IOC" (AP, 5/1). ... The Olympic Museum of Peruvian Sport "was inaugurated." The museum, located in Peru's National Stadium in Lima, "is a place that honors the history of world sport" (ANDINA, 4/30).
