Libya Sports Minister Abdussalam Guaila said that the country "plans to build a new 60,000 seater stadium" for the hosting of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final. A second stadium for the tournament, seating 23,000 spectators, "is planned for Misrata." Matches "would also be held in Benghazi" (REUTERS, 4/8). ... Rio de Janeiro's state government "has denied that the Maracana stadium will be shut for more redevelopment work following next year's FIFA World Cup."
