Premier League CEO Richard Scudamore Tops London Times' Power 100 List

The LONDON TIMES concluded its Power 100 list of sport's most influential people last week by naming Premier League CEO RICHARD SCUDAMORE No. 1. The Premier League has secured £5.5B (8.3B) in broadcast deals over the next three years, and "there is no sign of the bubble bursting for English club football despite long-repeated warnings that it was unsustainable." Scudamore's job is "making the business work, as well as maintaining harmony around the boardroom table, but that is possible only if the sport is worth watching." For the foreseeable future, Britain, and the rest of the world, "seem happy to be gripped by the weekly drama as attendances in the top division reach a record 95 per cent capacity this season, despite complaints over high ticket prices." Rounding out the Times' top five is BOA Chair SEBASTIAN COE, FIFA President SEPP BLATTER, Emir of Qatar SHEIKH HAMAD BIN KHALIFA AL-THANI and IOC President JACQUES ROGGE.
