Media Notes: Spox Signs Three-Year Deal With NBA, Game Live Stream Gets 250K Page Views

German sports website Spox "has recently started live streaming NBA games." Sources revealed that Spox "signed a three-year contract with the NBA." While the first couple games received only around 50,000 page views, Spox's last live stream of the Boston Celtics-Miami Heat game "received 250,000 page views" (DWDL, 2/4). ... The German Hockey League (DEL) has reached an agreement with its broadcast partners ServusTV and Laola1.tv about the dates for the payoffs, which start in mid-March. ServusTV will show up to 20 playoff games and all deciding games live. Laola1.tv will in addition live stream ServusTV's Friday games. Should deciding games occur simultaneously, ServusTV will use a simulcast (DWDL, 2/4).

BASKETBALL BUNDESLIGA: German business news channel DAF "will live broadcast the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) Cup qualification game between Bayern Munich and Brose Baskets Bamberg on Thursday at 8pm." DAF said it wants "to take a look beyond stock exchange and the economy" (DWDL, 2/4). ... German private TV channel kabel eins "will give basketball another shot and live broadcast the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) game between Bayern Munich and Alba Berlin" on Sunday. Kabel eins' last BBL broadcast in November "attracted only 300,000 viewers and received a market share of less than 1% in the target demographic." Sunday's game "could decide whether basketball has a future on kabel eins or not" (DWDL, 2/4).
