Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez met with team captains Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos to let them know the incentives to win the Champions League this season had increased to €500,000 net of taxes ($666,500), according to PUNTO PELOTA. With La Liga "looking like mission impossible," Real Madrid is focusing on the Champions League more than ever. Each player was originally supposed to receive €360,000 ($480,000) if the team was able to win Europe's top club competition, but Pérez has decided to increase the sum (PUNTO PELOTA, 1/23). ECODIARIO noted the amount for winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey had not changed. The players will still receive €350,000 ($466,000) net of taxes if they can come back and win La Liga, and €125,000 ($167,000) for the Copa del Rey (ECODIARIO, 1/23).
