Report Exposes EPL Grounds' Hygiene; ManU, Chelsea Fail With Mice, Old Turkey

The two most recent environmental reports from teams in the Premier League "have revealed some surprising findings," as mice, uncooked chicken and expired turkey "are just some of the hygiene nasties that health inspectors have discovered" on the grounds, according to the London TELEGRAPH. An inspection of ManU's Old Trafford "discovered that the club has previously had to deal with the presence of rodents." The report, which also found a broken tap and flaking pipework, instructed them to "continue to monitor and react to the mouse activity." Chelsea was criticized for previously almost serving "cooked turkey saddles" that were out of date. As a result, it was warned that it was a "serious contravention" of hygiene laws. A follow-up inspection did, however, find action had been taken, and it noted hygiene had become "generally excellent." Meanwhile, Man City received top marks, with the inspector writing there was "very good hygiene standards in place." In response to the report, ManU said it has a "robust pest control system" and if incidents do occur it takes "immediate and appropriate action" (TELEGRAPH, 1/14).
