Facility Notes: Maracanã Stadium Will Be Ready In May For June Tournament

The Rio de Janeiro government has revealed the Maracanã will now only be ready for FIFA in May. The stadium is now scheduled to be ready on May 28, less than 20 days before the start of the Confederations Cup, which is to begin on June 15 (FOLHA DE S. PAULO, 1/10). ... Construction has now started on an "all-round outdoor recreational resort" featuring a new hotel, golf course and renovated skiing facilities in Siglufjordur, a small fishing town on Iceland’s north coast. Construction on a new golf course -- designed by golf architect Edwin Roald -- started in June. The course is due to open in the summer of '15 (GOLF BUSINESS COMMUNITY, 1/7).
