London's Olympic Stadium "will re-open this summer to host a number of music concerts," according to Sunni Upal of the London DAILY MAIL. Plans "are in place for some of the concerts that Hyde Park traditionally hosts to move to the other side of London in July although final contracts are still to be signed." London Legacy Development Corp. CEO Dennis Hone said: "The exciting thing for us is that we have the opportunity to put on some major events in the park -- some music events and festivals and an anniversary weekend on 27 and 28 July" (DAILY MAIL, 1/3). In London, Mark Sweney reported the world's biggest live music company, Live Nation, which last year dropped Hyde Park as a venue, "is in talks to host gigs at the Olympic Stadium" beginning this summer. In December, Premier League club West Ham "was given three months to improve the terms of its deal to move into the Olympic Stadium." If it fails to do so, London Mayor Boris Johnson "will pursue alternate options including more music, athletics and other one-off sporting events." It is understood Live Nation's music events "could continue in the Olympic Park even if West Ham becomes the primary occupant of the stadium" (GUARDIAN, 1/3).
