Rangers To Receive 40% Of Gate Money From Dundee United Despite Fan Boycott

Scottish Premier League club Dundee United discovered it must hand Third Division club Rangers 40% of its cash from the team’s Scottish Cup tie -- "despite the visitors refusing to accept any tickets for the game," according to Craig Swan of the Scotland DAILY RECORD. The Tannadice club is "desperately disappointed" at the decision of Ibrox CEO Charles Green to reject briefs for his fans for February’s last-16 clash. After calls from "leading Rangers fans groups" to boycott the upcoming Scottish Cup game, Green backed their stance. But despite this, Scottish FA rules insist Rangers are due 40% of the gate money. An SFA source said, "The rules of the competition are clear. Teams are allocated their share based on participation and Rangers are no different." While the supporters have hit out, the club has "maintained silence" following Green’s comments (DAILY RECORD, 12/6).
