Event Notes: Confederations Cup Tickets Selling Fast

In the first hour they went on sale, close to 20,000 people applied for "the most popular Confederations Cup tickets." The category 4 tickets are the cheapest and only available to Brazilian residents. They are priced between R$28.5 ($13.5) and R$57 ($27). On Saturday, FIFA revealed that more than 130,000 tickets to the tournament had already been sold. The amount is "close to" 13 times the amount that was sold for the last edition in South Africa during the same time frame (UOL, 12/3). ... Prize money for the 2013 World Match Play Championship will rise to €3M ($3.9M). The figure marks a 9% increase over the '12 total of €2.8M ($3.6M) (REUTERS, 12/3).
