Paula Dunn Appointed As U.K. Athletics' Paralympic Head Coach

Former sprinter PAULA DUNN, who was "a key member" of PETER ERIKSSON's coaching team at the London Paralympics, has been named as U.K. Athletics’ new Paralympic head coach, according to Simon Hart of the London TELEGRAPH. The 47-year-old Dunn, who as an "able-bodied 100m sprinter won a European bronze and Commonwealth silver medal," will take up the role with immediate effect. Eriksson had vacated the job last month to take over from CHARLES VAN COMMENEE as head coach of the Olympic athletics program. U.K. Athletics Performance Dir NEIL BLACK said, "Paula played a significant role in the Paralympic team’s success at London 2012 and she is an outstanding appointment who will ensure continuity as well as further improvements in fulfilling this role." Dunn is the first of a "number of appointments that will be made in the next two weeks" as Black finalizes his elite coaching team for the next four-year cycle leading up to the Rio de Janeiro Games (TELEGRAPH, 11/21).
