Event Notes: England Could Be New Host Of U-21 Euros

UEFA would "consider asking England to be on standby" to host next summer’s U-21 European Championships if the Israel crisis escalates. If the worst case scenario develops, England "could end up staging the eight-nation competition in June as they lost out to Israel in the initial bidding process" (London DAILY MAIL, 11/20). ... Nine countries will be participating in the inaugural Twenty20 Blind Cricket World Cup scheduled to be held from Dec. 2-13 in Bangalore, India. The names of the players selected to compete was announced at the press conference on Wednesday. Apart from the hosts Australia, Bangladesh, England, Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka and Nepal will be taking part in the tournament (PTI, 11/21). ... Organizers of the 2013 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships revealed that "they have already sold more than 100,000 tickets 11 weeks before the start of the championships." The most sought-after events "are the weekend races and the men's giant slalom." The ticket allocation for the men's downhill and slalom race is "already sold out" (KURIER, 11/20).
