National Lottery Operator Camelot Receives Boost From London Games

U.K. National Lottery operator Camelot has hailed the London 2012 Games for "boosting revenue" as it reported record sales of £3.53B ($5.6B) in the six months to Sept. 19, according to Mark Sweney of the London GUARDIAN. The company said that ticket sales "grew by 8.1% year-on-year," just more than £264M ($420M), compared to the same period last year. Camelot Managing Dir Andy Duncan said the company played a "truly unique role" in the London Games. Duncan added that "almost nine in 10 Team GB athletes received some form of lottery funding, and that it hit its target of raising £750M ($1.2B) from the sale of Olympic and Paralympic-themed lottery games" (GUARDIAN, 11/20).
