Octagon Spain President Reveals No Broadcaster Has Acquired 2014 World Cup Rights

FIFA member and marketing agency Octagon Spain President Joan Cusco revealed on Wednesday that "no TV operator in Spain" has acquired the media rights to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, according to the EFE. Cusco said, "The economic crisis has made it that as of now no broadcaster has been able to put together the figures demanded by FIFA to acquire the rights." Cusco added that he believed the World Cup in Brazil would be "the most special in history." He was also asked about the doubts regarding the infrastructure for the event in '14 and said that FIFA's job is to "audit and put pressure on the government of the organizing country so that everything is ready" (EFE, 10/24).
