IOC Calls For Proposals For New Olympic Broadcast, Digital Media Venture

The IOC announced on Thursday that it is requesting proposals for an Olympic broadcast and digital media venture it hopes to develop next year. The organization’s agreement with pan-European broadcast network Eurosport to produce a monthly half-hour show called “The Olympic Magazine” expires at the end of the year, and it is looking for a partner with whom it can develop programs in the future. The IOC left things very open in the request-for-proposal form. It has invited broadcasters, ad agencies, production companies and others to pitch shows that feature archival Olympic footage and cover Olympic personalities in between Games. The IOC is open to those shows being distributed online or on TV, and it is open to a range of financial terms from paying for production to cutting a joint-venture deal. It will select a partner or supplier based on their editorial approach and distribution and promotion plans. The IOC’s communications division is overseeing the RFP and working with its marketing group on it. The IOC will accept proposals until Nov. 16.
