Bundesliga's Top Games Headed For Free TV, Online In Italy

The German Football League's (DFL) commercial arm, DFL Sports Enterprise, "entered a new way of foreign marketing for Bundesliga media rights," according to Petra Schwegler of W&V. The Bundesliga's top games "will be available live and free of charge on online news and sports portals in Italy." This new way of foreign marketing is made possible "through the DFL Sports Enterprise's contract with Perform Group," a global provider of online sports content. The software for this new way of watching live Bundesliga games "will be installed on goal.com, which is owned by Perform, and several Italian news and sports portals," which are currently in talks with the DFL. The deal "is for the current '12-13 Bundesliga season and does not exclude the sale of additional media rights, such as TV rights, to Italian media outlets" (W&V, 9/25).
