Marketplace Roundup: Spanish Basketball Signs Deal With Nike

The Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and Nike have agreed to a sponsorship deal to run through '16. Nike will take over for Li Ning, which had previously outfitted the Spanish squad. Some of the players that attended the announcement of the new deal included basketball players Marc Gasol, Pau Gasol, Rudy Fernandez, and Juan Carlos Navarro (EFE, 9/5). ... German Hockey League (DEL) club Augsburg Panther extended and expanded its sponsorship with plumbing and heating wholesaler Richter & Frenzel GmbH & Co. KG. Starting with the '12-13 DEL season, the company's logo will be featured in one of the face-off circles on the ice. In addition, Richter & Frenzel will continue to be present on the players' jerseys as well as on the goaltender's gear (Augsburg Panther). ... Spanish bank Santander has extended its sponsorship deal with Ferrari through '17. F1 driver Fernando Alonso's contract with Ferrari also runs for several more years. To recognize the extension, Ferrari will run a rear wing at the Singapore Grand Prix with the words "World's Best Bank." The title was created by the financial magazine Euromoney (MOTORSPORT.com, 9/9). ... Tokyo 2020 named Mizuno Corporation as its fifth official bid partner. The sports goods manufacturer, along with the previously announced sponsors, Asics, Descente, JTB and Kinki Nippon Tourist, will collaborate with the Bid Committee to attempt to bring the 2020 Games to Tokyo. (Tokyo 2020). ... F1 driver Michael Schumacher has agreed to a partnership with GPS company erlinyou. The announcement was made in the Paddock of the Italian F1 Grand Prix in Monza (erlinyou).
