Event Notes: Valcke Impressed By Arena Pantanal

FIFA General Secretary Jérôme Valcke was "impressed" by his visit to the Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba, Brazil. Valcke said, "Cuiaba will impress the world in 2014." The World Cup host stadium is now 47% finished (PORTAL2014.org.br). ... Masters champion Charl Schwartzel, from South Africa, and world No. 7 Jason Dufner are the "only two confirmed int'l participants" seven weeks before the inaugural Perth Int'l tournament tees off. The event was funded largely by A$2.5M ($2.6M) from Western Australia taxpayers and will be held at Lake Karrinyup from Oct. 18-21 (THE WEST AUSTRALIAN, 8/30).
