The German Hightex Group Wins Roofing Contract For Brazilian Beira-Rio Stadium

The German-based Hightex Group, a leading system provider for membrane roofs, and its Brazilian construction partner SEPA, "were selected to plan and build the membrane roof of the Beira-Rio stadium in Porto Alegre, Brazil," according to the PRESSE ANZEIGER. The Beira-Rio is one of the 12 stadiums that will host 2014 World Cup games. It is the fifth-biggest stadium in Brazil with a capacity of 50,297. It is also home to Brasileiro team Internacional Porto Alegre. The "contract value of this project is close to" €10M ($12.5M). Hightex is trying "to land two more stadium projects in Brazil." The engineering work "will begin immediately, and the construction is due to be completed during '13" (PRESSEANZEIGER.de, 8/28). STOCKMARKETWIRE.com reported that the contract win "is the second in Brazil by Hightex," which also won the contract for Rio de Janeiro's Maracanã Stadium. The Maracanã "will host" the 2014 World Cup Final and the 2016 Olympic Games (STOCKMARKETWIRE.com, 8/28).
