Munich's Allianz Arena Will Add 2,000 Seats Before Bayern's First Bundesliga Home Game

The Munich-based Allianz Arena, home of Bayern Munich and 2nd Bundesliga club 1860 Munich, "will get 2,000 additional seats," according to the ABENDZEITUNG. The remodeling "is supposed to be completed before Bayern's first home game against VfB Stuttgart on Sept. 2." Bayern Munich spokesperson Markus Hörwick said, "We only need two more permits. We try to get everything done in time for the first home game." The plan calls "for an additional two rows in the upper deck," which would increase the stadium's capacity from 69,000 to 71,000 for domestic league and Cup matches, and from 66,000 to 68,000 for UEFA Champions League matches (ABENDZEITUNG, 8/23).
