Event Notes: Thai Island Of Phuket To Host Quiksilver Open

In Phuket, Thailand Tanyaluk Sakoot noted that more than 300 surfers from around the world are expected to take part in the fourth Quiksilver Open Phuket Thailand 2012, with prizes totaling B300,000 ($9,500). The competition will take place at Patong Beach Sept. 12-15. In addition to the surfing events, there will be a surf clinic conducted by professional surfers for anyone interested in learning to surf or to improve their technique, a fashion show, live music and demonstrations of other sports, such as skateboarding (THE PHUKET NEWS, 8/20).
BACK AGAIN: Eton Dorney "has been awarded host status" for the 2013 Rowing World Cup, following its role as a London 2012 venue. The last time Eton Dorney played host to the regatta was in '05, the only time the World Cup has come to Britain (BBC, 8/20).
