Football Notes

After meeting Thursday, the French Football Federation Exec Committee "decided not to pay any bonuses" to the four players who were the object of disciplinary proceedings following the Euro. Samir Nasri, Jeremy Menez, Yann M'Vila and Hatem Ben Arfa will not be receiving any money while all the other players that were part of the Euro squad will receive 25% less than what they were expecting. The non-paid bonuses will instead be redistributed 60% to amateur football and 40% toward the Football Foundation (L'EQUIPE.fr, 8/2).

DREAM BIG: AEG President and MLS L.A. Galaxy owner Tim Leiweke "recognized that he dreams of signing" Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho. Leiweke: "I hope Ronaldo comes one day, but I don't think it will be possible in the short term. We are looking for a new Beckham for the future" (ABOLA, 8/2).
