Crystal Palace Calls On Cheerleaders To Help Boost Ticket Sales

In the "age of austerity," selling tickets for the Championship League Crystal Palace FC has proved "easier said than done," which has prompted the team to call in reinforcement from cheerleaders, according to the London DAILY MAIL. For Crystal Palace, promotion to the EPL "looks unlikely next term so trying to sell a 23-game entry to Selhurst Park is going to need an attractive offer to entice fans back to the stands." And "that’s just what the marketing division has attempted" at the south London side, who have come up with an idea that "might even have fans from other clubs filling some empty seats next season." The Crystal Palace cheerleaders have even produced a video based on Carly Rae Jepsen’s song "Call Me Maybe" titled "Call Me Crystals" (DAILY MAIL, 7/23). In London, THE SUN reported the video is shot on location at the Eagles' south London headquarters where the girls are shown "performing in a number of different areas of the stadium." Scenes show them pitch-side as well as in areas including a CCTV room and hospitality bar (THE SUN, 7/12).
