Bundesliga Club Hamburger SV Acquires South Korean Sponsors, Wins Peace Cup

Bundesliga club Hamburger SV, which is currently in South Korea to participate in the Peace Cup, "acquired two South Korean companies as sponsors," according to the DPA. The HSV agreed to sponsorship deals with Hanwha Solar and Kumho Tires. The deals, which run until '13, will generate about €1.5M ($1.8M). The club's popularity in South Korea is largely based on 20-year-old striker Son Heung-Min, who joined the German club in '08. In addition to the new sponsorship deals, the team will leave South Korea with another $1.5M after winning the Peace Cup final 1-0 against Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma (DPA, 7/20).
