Campeonato Brasileiro Série A Flamengo have "received a sponsorship offer" of R$1M ($494K) for Sunday's rivalry match against Fluminense, according to Peixoto & Souza of GLOBOESPORTE. The club "should receive" R$1M from Brasil Foodservice Group to have their logo on the the "main space of the uniform," for Sunday's 100th edition of the Fla-Flu match-up. BFG already has a season-long deal with Rio rival Vasco da Gama. That deal is for R$4M ($1.9M) and allows them to have their logo on the right side of the chest on Vasco's team uniform. Flamengo has been "looking for a master sponsor since January," when their deal with Proctor & Gamble expired. Their conversations with Black & Decker "have lost momentum, but are not over." A second company is also in the running, "but the name has been kept a secret" (GLOBOESPORTE, 7/3).
LONG-TERM DEAL: In Rio de Janeiro, Júnior & Souza reported that BFG is "looking into signing a contract" with Flamengo until December. However, the company's logo would not be on the main space of the uniform like it will be for Sunday's "clássico." Instead, BFG would pay R$3M ($1.5M) to have their logo imprinted on the front of the club's shorts until the end of the calendar year. Even if a deal is reached, Flamengo still would not have a main sponsor. Today, the team's main uniform sponsors "earn a total" of R$18M ($8.9M) for the club. Banco BMG pays R$8M ($3.9M)for the sleeves, Cosan R5M ($2.5M) for the lower back of the jersey and back of the shorts, TIM R$2M ($990,000) for the inside of the jersey number and Triunfo Logistica R$3 ($1.5M) for the shoulder sleeve (GLOBOESPORTE, 7/4).
