Chevrolet Will Leave The WTCC Racing Series At Season's End

U.S. automaker Chevrolet announced its departure from the World Touring Car Championship at the end of the '12 season, according to Stefan Ziegler of MOTORSPORT-TOTAL.com. Chevrolet will discontinue its WTCC involvement after eight successful years. Chevrolet, which joined the racing series in '05, has won 59 races as well as the '10 and '11 drivers and manufactures championships. Chevrolet Europe President and Managing Dir Susan Docherty said, "We took a strategic look at all of our motorsport and marketing involvements, and decided to leave the WTCC at the end of the season" (MOTORSPORT-TOTAL.com, 7/5).
