Red Bull Wants A Second Pro Football Team In Austria

Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz wants a second professional football team in Austria, according to the KURIER. Mateschitz wants to establish the new team in Austria's second highest professional league, Erste Liga. In order to accomplish this goal, Red Bull founded a new club called FC Liefering, formerly known as USK Anif. The club, which played in Austria's third-tier league, Regionalliga West, used to be partners with Bundesliga club Red Bull Salzburg. The new FC Liefering "has nothing in common" with the former USK Anif, except its license. FC Liefering practices at the Red Bull training facility in Taxham and plays its games at the Red Bull academy in Liefering. It is RB Salzburg's new farm team, but unlike its old farm team the Red Bull Juniors that played under the same license as RB Salzburg,  the FC Liefering "is allowed to be promoted" to the Erst Liga because it uses the license of USK Anif. If the project FC Liefering should fail, Red Bull has already established another club cooperation with Regionalliga Mitte club FC Pasching (KURIER, 7/3).
